Turin Exhibition Revives F1 Rivalry
The National Automobile Museum in Turin has launched a new exhibition honouring Enzo Ferrari and his historic rivalry with British Formula 1 teams.
Entitled “I Nemici del Drake” (“The Enemies of the Drake”), the display focuses on Ferrari’s intense competition with British “garagiste” teams from the 1960s through the 1980s. In response, those teams famously nicknamed Ferrari “Il Drake”, a reference to Francis Drake.
The exhibition brings together 23 classic racing cars, featuring examples from Cooper, March Engineering, Lotus, Brabham, and McLaren, along with period helmets, racing suits, and rare archival items.
A key attraction of the exhibition is a dedicated photography section by German motorsport photographer Rainer Schlegelmilch, widely considered one of the most influential figures in racing photography
