Virginie Philippot Joins the FIA Presidency Battle
The list of candidates for the FIA presidency continues to grow. Previously, three contenders had entered the race for leadership the current president Mohammed Ben Sulayem, former FIA steward Tim Mayer, and Swiss racing driver Laura Villars. They have now been joined by Belgian journalist and model Virginie Philippot.
She announced her decision on social media, emphasizing that her main objective is not personal status but a desire to transform FIA’s culture and make it more modern and inclusive.
“I am not running to become the ‘first,’ but to ensure that no one becomes the ‘last.’ Motorsport should reflect the world as it is today: diverse, bold, and united. I have both the vision and the determination to open doors that have remained closed for far too long. The FIA must become a place where every voice is heard, every story is valued, and every passion is supported. The race for the future begins now,” Filippo stated.
Thus, the upcoming election will feature a wide array of figures from the motorsport community ranging from current leadership and professional stewards to drivers and media representatives. The results of the vote will be announced at the end of this year.
