Wolff Voices Disappointment in Antonelli
Kimi Antonelli started the Italian Grand Prix from sixth position but finished only ninth. Although the 19-year-old managed to score a few points, Mercedes was left dissatisfied with his performance. For the first time,Toto Wolff publicly criticized Antonelli, emphasizing that his display was not impressive.
The young Italian’s difficulties began as early as Friday, when he went off the track during practice and lost valuable preparation time. On Sunday, the problems continued: a poor start with wheelspin caused him to lose positions, followed by repeated track-limit violations that earned him a black-and-white flag. To compound matters,Antonelli received a five-second penalty for forcing Alex Albon’s Williams off the track during a battle for position.
This time, Wolff chose not to defend his protege: “This weekend was nothing but a disappointment. If a driver is aiming for results, he cannot afford to make such mistakes. Kimi has immense talent and all the qualities of a true champion, but he needs to rid himself of past errors and show his real level.”
