Zhou Joins Ferrari as Reserve Driver
Former Kick-Sauber and Alfa Romeo driver Guanyu Zhou has been officially named a reserve driver for Scuderia Ferrari. In this role, he will join long-serving Ferrari test driver Antonio Giovinazzi.
Speculation regarding Zhou’s potential move to Ferrari first surfaced in December of last year, although both parties firmly denied the possibility at the time. Notably, Zhou has a previous connection with the Italian team he was once a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy and later spent three seasons in Formula 1 with Sauber (currently known as Kick-Sauber), a team that uses Ferrari power units.
Antonio Giovinazzi has held the role of Ferrari reserve driver since 2017. Like Zhou, the Italian also raced for Sauber between 2019 and 2021. In the 2025 season, Giovinazzi will continue to represent Ferrari in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).
